The flight services to and from the city have also marked an increase in the recent days. On Friday, 172 flights operated in the Chennai airport. The passengers claimed that in May, when the flight services resumed, there was one counter for checking the passengers at the departure section of the domestic terminal. Now even though the passengers’ footfall has swelled to nearly 17,000, the counters have not been increased and all the passengers are going through the security check-in through the single counter.

The passengers claimed that they need to stand in long queues and it is very difficult for them to maintain social distance. The airport officials, meanwhile said that the issue will be taken up with the authorities soon and remedial measures taken.
