Palani judge completes Ph.D. in consumer law

A judge has sprung a surprise by completing Ph.D in consumer law, overcoming the constraint of time which is a major hurdle for most research scholars.

Judge A Radhakrishnan (50), from Theni, is working as a sub-judge at Palani. He completed M.Com and studied B.L, M.L and finally completed Ph.D despite his tight schedule. Speaking to DTNext, Radhakrishnan claimed that he decided to carry out research in consumer law as it had more utility and the people needed more awareness about it. He chose ‘Evaluation of Consumer Redressal Forum in Tamil Nadu’ as the topic and did his Ph.D in the Manomaniam Sundaranar University. He was guided by Dr Somasundara Madhavan, an expert in criminal justice department, and assisted by Dr.Thilagam, an expert in commerce, as the subject dealt both with commerce and law. He began his research in 2011 and submitted his thesis in May 2015. After completing viva and other formalities, he was awarded Ph.D recently. He had initially faced difficulty in getting time but gradually got adjusted to the situation and worked hard. He did not take any holidays during his research work, he said.
