One-tap SOS feature on Kauvery Hospital’s app to strengthen emergency care access

The SOS feature enables users to seek immediate assistance with a single tap, removing the need to remember emergency numbers or verbally communicate location details during moments of panic.

CHENNAI: Kauvery Hospital has launched a one-tap SOS emergency feature on its Kauvery KARE mobile application, aimed at significantly reducing response time and improving access to medical care during emergencies.

The SOS feature enables users to seek immediate assistance with a single tap, removing the need to remember emergency numbers or verbally communicate location details during moments of panic.

Once activated, the system automatically captures the user’s location through GPS and facilitates the prompt dispatch of the nearest Kauvery Hospital ambulance to the spot. Simultaneously, the feature allows the user or a bystander to connect with a Kauvery doctor through a 24/7 video call, ensuring real-time medical guidance until professional help arrives.

Hospital authorities said this integrated approach helps address a critical gap in emergency care, where delays often occur between the onset of a medical crisis and hospital intervention.

“Healthcare services must match the speed and ease that people now expect in other essential sectors,” said Dr Aravindan Selvaraj, co-founder and executive director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals, at the launch. “Confusion and stress during emergencies prevent patients or attendants from seeking timely help, and this feature is designed to simplify that process.”

Available on both Android and iOS platforms, Kauvery KARE app also offers a range of digital health services, including appointment booking across Kauvery Hospital units, video and in-person consultations, digital access to medical reports, and management of health records for multiple family members.
