Official loses Rs 5 lakh Pongal gift money to sex workers

The two shops supervised by Baskar remained closed and cardholders had to return empty-handed on Friday without Rs 2,500.Though Baskar, a resident of Koyambedu, lodged a complaint at North Beach station on Friday morning saying he was robbed of cash in Parry’s Corner by a woman in an autorickshaw, CCTV footage viewed by investigators showed no such robbery.

When pressed further, he confessed his night misadventure which may remind one of the famous movie Hangover.

After a drinking session with his friend, Baskar was returning home when he encountered two call girls who took him to a room they are familiar with. He spends the night with the two and pays them in a highly intoxicated condition, not remembering much what exactly happened in the night. In the morning after the two sex workers left, he found more than Rs 5 lakh from Rs 8 lakh has gone missing.

Panicked, he rushed to the nearest police station and cooked up a robbery story.

Police are now on the lookout for two call girls.
