No night patrol duty for Chennai police personnel a year before retirement

GCP personnel said that this initiative recognises the dedication and hard work of the personnel throughout their careers.

CHENNAI: In a move aimed at prioritising the well-being of the rank and file, the Greater Chennai Police (GCP) Commissioner A Arun has introduced an initiative wherein police personnel aged fifty-nine and above will be exempted from night duty.

“All police personnel from Constables to Special Sub-Inspectors aged 59 and above will be exempted from night duty in their final year of service,” according to the officials.

A GCP personnel said that this initiative is a recognition of the dedication and hard work of the personnel throughout their careers.

Accordingly, the welfare measure will be extended to all officers who will be turning 59 in the coming year. These officers will be exempted from night duty until their retirement date.

GCP Commissioner A Arun has instructed all police officials to ensure the implementation of this initiative.
