The first bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjib Banaerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy offered the direction on Monday while disposing a plea moved by DMK alleging issue of tokens with the images of the Chief Minister and other Ministers making it seem as if the Pongal hamper is being issued by the AIADMK and not by the state. During the hearing senior counsel P Wilson submitted that pursuant to undertaking by Advocate General Vijay Narayan before court on December 30 two circulars were issued and wanted the court to ensure that no political leaders’ photos are printed on tokens. While Wilson sought to keep the case pending for reporting compliance after Pongal, AG submitted that the two circulars would suffice to ensure that such images are not printed.
