NCB seizes meth worth Rs 50 lakh

Sleuths from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested four persons, including three Lankans at Valsaravakkam and seized 5 kg of methamphetamine, also known as meth or ice in party circle, from them on Thursday night.

The street value of the seized drug is estimated to be around Rs 50 lakh. According to Bruno A, zonal director, Chennai NCB, the team arrested the four accused based on a tip-off. The arrested were identified as Sivarupan Paramanandan (45), Alexander Policap (36), both of Sri Lankan origin residing in Chennai, Gopal Mani (38) from Chennai and Sujanthan Chockalingam (39), a Lankan refugee residing in Puzhal camp. The meth was found concealed in five green coloured foil covers. After questioning the arrested persons, NCB officials noted that the drug was meant for local supply. Meth is an addictive stimulant.
