MTC driver suffers seizure, rams bus into autos near Marina Beach

The auto rickshaws parked on the roadside were completely crushed in the collision.

CHENNAI: A bus driver of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) suffered an unexpected seizure on Thursday night, leading to an accident on Marina Beach, resulting in injuring three individuals, including the driver.

The incident occurred around midnight when Mohan (50) was driving 21G bus. While it approached the Marina Beach bus stop, the driver suffered a seizure, and lost control of the vehicle, which collided with two auto-rickshaws parked by the roadside.

The bus continued on until it crashed into a pavement parapet wall and stopped. Bystanders and other drivers rushed to the scene, rescued Mohan, V Manikandan (42) from Tondiarpet, and M Manimaran (37) from Perambur, Mohan, and admitted to them the GH in Omandurar.

The two auto-rickshaws were severely damaged. Anna Square Police registered a case and are investigating the accident.
