Money lender kills auto driver who failed to repay loan

Irked that an autorickshaw driver failed to repay half of the Rs 5,000 he borrowed, a moneylender attacked him with a water can which led to his death in Washermenpet.

Following this, the police arrested the moneylender, Vasu, for murder. A few weeks ago, Sridhar (50) had borrowed Rs 5,000 from Vasu. The agreement was that he had to repay Rs 50 every day, which included interest. But, Sridhar reportedly stopped paying after some days.


A few days ago, Vasu stopped Sridhar near his shop and asked him to return the money, which led to an argument between the two. In fit of anger, Vasu picked up a drinking water can and attacked Sridhar with it. Sridhar, who suffered injuries on his head and chest, was admitted to Stanley Medical College for treatment, where he succumbed on Thursday, police said. Following this, police arrested Vasufor murder.
