R Ramakumar (45) of Madhavaram, who works as an office assistant at CB-CID, Chennai, got divorced from his wife Sunita in June this year. After that, Sunita married one Kathiravan and moved to Tiruvanmiyur.

As per court directions, their two children, who are studying at a private school, were in Sunita’s custody and were allowed to spend time with Ramakumar four days a month.

While his sons complained of abuse by Sunita and Kathiravan, Ramakumar received a call from the school principal informing him that his sons have injury marks all over their bodies and complain of abuse by their mother and stepfather.

Ramakumar visited Sunita’s house in Tiruvanmiyur and talked to the children. Later he contacted the child helpline to report the incident.

On information, the Tiruvanmiyur police registered a case and arrested Sunita and Kathiravan under three sections, including the Juvenile Justice Act and remanded them in judicial custody.
