Minor posts woman’s number with obscene comment, arrested

A 17-year-old boy, dejected over a breakup, shared the contact number of the mother of his ex-girlfriend with an objectionable comment on a social media platform. He has been apprehended by the cyber cell of Adyar police district.

A 41-year-old woman of Kumaran lately started getting obscene calls and photos and approached the Kumaran Nagar police station. After investigation, the police secured a 17-year-old boy from Thousand Lights. They said that the accused created two fake Instagram accounts in the names of his ex-girlfriends and shared the contact number of the mother of one of the girls. “The profiles also had obscene images and captioned them saying anyone interested in nude video calls can call the number,” an official said.

The minor boy was booked under Sections 66, 67D of IT Act and 354D and 509 of IPC and further investigation is on.
