Migrant worker falls on electric line from bridge near Park station

CHENNAI: A migrant worker suffered grievous burn injuries after he fell onto a suburban railway electric line from Muthuswamy bridge near Park railway station on Saturday.

Preliminary investigations suggested it to be an accidental fall. The injured person was identified as Sikkander (25), a native of Bihar.

Police sources said that the incident happened around 11 am on Saturday. Sikkander who was walking along the Muthuswamy bridge allegedly slipped and fell, first onto the railway electric line and then on the tracks.

Passengers at the railway station alerted the authorities, who rescued the man and moved him to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), where he is undergoing treatment.

Police said that he suffered head injuries and more than 50 per cent burn injuries. Government Railway Police (Egmore) have registered a case and are investigating.
