Metro frequency to be 6 mins once till Sat, peak hour extended till 10 pm

The increase in frequency of services has been implemented for the benefit of people who return to their native for Deepavali.

CHENNAI: The evening peak hour Chennai Metro train services have been extended till 10 pm between November 9 and 11, owing to Deepavali festival.

As per the Chennai Metro Rail Limited, the peak hour service has been extended for the convenience of the public going to their natives on account of Deepavali festival on November 12.

Hence, for easy commute, services have been extended till 10 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, instead of its usual peak hour service of 5 pm to 8pm.

"In the extended peak hours between 8 pm and 10 pm Metro trains will be operated at 6 minutes' frequency instead of 9 minutes in both I and II corridors. Passengers are requested to utilise the metro train services to avoid traffic congestion and hassle free journey, "the press note stated.

The extension of evening peak hour Metro train services is only for these specific dates, CMRL confirmed.
