Manali residents petition Chennai Corporation to expedite link road work

According to the committee members, work on the Link Road has been stalled midway, despite tenders being issued and construction having already commenced

CHENNAI: The Manali New Town Metro Rail Service Demand Committee, along with over 50 residents of Manali New Town and surrounding neighbourhoods, met the zonal officer and chairman of Manali Zone on Tuesday and submitted a formal petition demanding the resumption of the Manali New Town –Sadayankuppam Link Road project.

According to the committee members, work on the Link Road has been stalled midway, despite tenders being issued and construction having already commenced.

Manali zonal committee chairman AV Arumugam received the petition from them and assured the group that immediate action would be taken in this regard.

Following this, the residents met with zonal officer K Devendiran to submit their letter. The official stated that efforts are already under way to expedite the project. He explained that Metro Water pipeline works are currently in progress in the area and promised to accelerate those works to facilitate the resumption of road construction. He assured to inspect the site on Thursday.
