Man vomits blood, dies in quarantine facility

Tension prevailed at a quarantine facility in Melakottayur VIT hostel after one of the air passengers, who was quarantined there, died after vomiting blood on Sunday evening.

The deaceased, Mohamed Sharif (61) of Tiruvarur, reportedly complained of severe chest pain for the last two days. He vomited blood and died in the bathroom on Sunday late evening, sources said. “He was tested negative for COVID-19, but was on mandatory 7-day quarantine at the government-sponsored quarantine centre. He was under medication for high blood pressure,” police said. The incident created panic in the facility with the number of inmates complaining that the medical team ignored him when he complained of chest pain.
