Man stabbed with broken beer bottle; One held

CHENNAI: City Police on Tuesday arrested a 27-year-old man on attempt to murder charges for stabbing a man with a broken beer bottle near Palavakkam beach on Sunday.

The injured man, V Thangaraj (25) of Vettuvankeni was at VGP layout near Palavakkam beach when he was attacked by the gang.

Police sources said that three men picked up a quarrel with Thangaraj out of the blue and as the verbal duel escalated, one of them took a broken beer bottle and stabbed Thangaraj with it.

Hearing his cries, passerby moved Thangaraj to a hospital. Based on his complaint, police arrested S Pravin (27) of Palavakkam.

Investigations revealed that Pravin had previous enmity with the victim and attacked him to settle scores.

Neelankarai police arrested Pravin. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
