Man on two-wheeler run over by truck near Puzhal; driver arrested

CHENNAI: A 39-year-old man was killed after his two-wheeler got hit by a container truck near Puzhal on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Senthil Kumar, a resident of Krishna nagar avenue in Madhavaram Milk Colony.

Senthil Kumar is a tiles laying contractor and he was returning home after finishing work at a construction site in Puzhal when the accident happened, police said.

When his bike was coming along Grand Northern Trunk (GNT) road near Nagathammal temple, the truck which was trailing his bike hit him.

In the impact, Senthil Kumar fell off the bike and came under the wheels of the truck.

Police said that Senthil Kumar died on the spot. Madhavaram traffic investigation wing secured the body and sent it to government hospital for autopsy.

A case of negligent driving was booked against the truck driver, Lakshmanan.

He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
