The gang members approached Ramasubramanian, a resident of West Mambalam, when he was walking on 10th Avenue in Ashok Nagar at 9.45 am on January 24. They pushed him into a car and took him to a lodge in Vadapalani, where they threatened him.

The police said that the victim was attacked and abused for an anonymous letter he had sent to a firm, in which he made derogatory remarks about it.

The gang members, which included a woman, later left the lodge after snatching Ramasubramanian’s mobile phone. They left him in the custody of one person in the room itself. That is when Ramasubramanian managed to escape. He went straight to Government Royapettah Hospital, where he was admitted.

Following his complaint, the police are trying to identify the kidnappers.
