Man in train attacked in Fort MRTS station

The victim V Raveeshwaran of Ezhil Nagar in Thuraipakkam, has been admitted to RGGGH, police said.

CHENNAI: A 55-year-old man was attacked at Fort railway station while he was travelling on MRTS train from Beach station to Thiruvanmiyur on Thursday.

The victim V Raveeshwaran of Ezhil Nagar in Thuraipakkam, has been admitted to RGGGH, police said.

He had appeared at a court in Chennai collectorate in connection with a murder case and was returning in MRTS train to Thiruvanmiyur from beach station when he was attacked by a four-member gang.

“Four persons got into the train at Fort station with knives and clubs. They attacked Raveeswaran with the weapons and escaped. Raveeshwaran was injured on his face and head and was taken to RGGGH in an ambulance,” police said.

Egmore railway police are investigating the case further.
