Man attempts to break open ATM in Porur

The SRMC police have launched a hunt for a man who attempted to break open a private bank ATM in the zero hours of Monday.

The incident happened around 12.30 am at the ATM of Karnataka Bank on Trunk Road when the security guard was away. A man who entered the ATM with screw driver and a spanner tried to open the ATM’s chest. The staff at the control room in Hyderabad noticed the suspicious activities through the CCTV cameras and alerted the nearby police station. However, by the time the police personnel reached the ATM, the man fled the spot. Police have launched a hunt for him with the help of CCTV footage retrieved from the locality.


Meanwhile, four sovereigns of gold and a laptop were burgled from a house in Choolaimedu. The victim Eashwara Sharma had gone to Hyderabad for a wedding on Friday after locking his house on Thamizhar Veedhi. However, when his housemaid, Vijaya reached the house on Sunday evening to clean, she found the house door broken open. After she alerted Eashwara Sharma through phone, his brother lodged a complaint at Choolaimedu police station. Further inquiry is on.
