Man attacks municipality staff for asking him to wear mask

A 25-year-old man attacked a Tambaram Municipality supervisor for asking him to pay fine for not wearing a face mask on Sunday.

Tambaram Municipal supervisor Kumaraswamy was inspecting if people on Old GST Road near Irumbiliyur were wearing masks. The police said that he intercepted Dinesh from the same locality, who was travelling on a two-wheeler without a mask. Kumaraswamy asked him the reason for not wearing a mask and said he should check his body temperature and pay the fine amount.

Over this, Dinesh quarrelled with Kumarasammy and said he is the son of a retired police officer. However, Kumaraswamy did not let him go and asked him to pay the fine. The police said they began to attack each other and the public had to intervene to end the fight. Both of them have filed a complaint with the Tambaram police are inquiring.
