Man arrested for sending morphed pics obscene message to partner's kin

CHENNAI: The West Zone cyber crime wing of Chennai Police arrested a 23-year-old youth who sent obscene messages to a woman. The victim was a relative of the woman with whom the accused is in a relationship.

The complainant, a 35-year-old woman, is separated from her husband and lives with her son and parents. On December 12, the complainant had received abusive messages on social media.

The sender also sent vulgar clips and morphed the complainant's photo and sent it to her. The accused demanded vulgar photos from the complainant and threatened to share the morphed clips with her estranged husband, extended family and her colleagues.

The woman filed a complaint with the police, who conducted investigations and traced the person who sent the abusive messages. The arrested person was identified as Berin D Sekar (23) of Karambakkam, Tiruvallur district.

Investigations revealed that Sekar was in a relationship with the complainant's relative, and he claimed that he wanted to threaten the complainant to ensure she did not share about the relationship with her relatives.

He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
