Madras HC rejects VJS Dinakaran’s petition against I-T Tribunal

In 2017, Income Tax officials conducted search operations at the premises of Sasikala and Dinakaran. During the course of the search, it was alleged that Dinakaran had acted as a benamidar for Sasikala by transferring shares of Spectrum Mall, Perambur, in her favour.

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court dismissed a petition filed by VSJ Dinakaran, whom the Income Tax alleged was VK Sasikala's benami, seeking to quash an order passed by the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal in connection with the freezing of Rs 18 crore.

In 2017, Income Tax officials conducted search operations at the premises of Sasikala and Dinakaran. During the course of the search, it was alleged that Dinakaran had acted as a benamidar for Sasikala by transferring shares of Spectrum Mall, Perambur, in her favour. Consequently, the Income Tax Department issued an order freezing Rs 18 crore seized from premises belonging to him.
