House rammed by lorry crashes on sleeping child, women in Pallavaram

Janaki (50) of Thirumangai Alwarpuramin Thiruneermalai near Pallavaram was sleeping inside her house along with her daughter Keerthana (21), and relative Kausalya (23) and her children Surjith (3) and Surjitha (1) which the lorry crashed through the house.

CHENNAI:A truck rammed into a house in Thiruneermalai in the middle of the night on Thursday severely injuring three women and a baby.

Janaki (50) of Thirumangai Alwarpuramin Thiruneermalai near Pallavaram was sleeping inside her house along with her daughter Keerthana (21), and relative Kausalya (23) and her children Surjith (3) and Surjitha (1) which the lorry crashed through the house.

The truck reportedly went out of control and rammed into their house. The wall of the house collapsed in the impact and fell on the sleeping inmates.

Police said except for the one-year-old baby all of them were injured and neighbours rescued them after hearing the loud noise.

The injured have been rushed to the Chromepet GH. The Shankar Nagar police team visited the spot and a search is on to nab the lorry driver who had fled the spot.
