KMCH murder: 2 more arrested; another cop suspended

Eight people were already arrested, while four police personnel were suspended, and one more cop was suspended on Wednesday.

CHENNAI: The police arrested two more persons on Wednesday in connection with the murder of history-sheeter Adhi Kesavan inside Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital on Monday

Eight people were already arrested, while four police personnel were suspended, and one more cop was suspended on Wednesday.

Those arrested on Wednesday have been identified as Dinesh (27) and Keerthivasan (35) - both residents of Rajamangalam.

R Adhikesavan alias Adhi (23), a resident of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, Kolathur, had over half a dozen cases against him.

In March 2022, Adhikesavan was arrested in connection with the murder of another history-sheeter, Palani.

Police said that Adhi, who was in prison, got out on bail only a couple of weeks ago.

During the early hours of Monday, Adhi went to the hospital for moral support for his friend, Suchitra (21), who gave birth to a premature child on December 16, and the child died without responding to treatment at KMCH on Sunday.

During the early hours of Monday, a group of assailants hacked Adhikesavan to death inside KMCH.

Following the incident, police constables Narenthiran and policewomen Saritha, Ambika and Neelavathi were suspended on Tuesday, and memos were issued to the Assistant Commissioner and Inspector (crime).

Meanhwile, Special Sub-Inspector Giridharan was suspended on Wednesday.
