Juvenile held for murder of history-sheeter

Police, on a tip-off that a man was lying unconscious with cut injuries on Cooum river banks near Basin Bridge, secured and moved him to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

CHENNAI: City Police on Wednesday arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a murder of a history-sheeter near Basin Bridge on Tuesday night. Police, on a tip-off that a man was lying unconscious with cut injuries on Cooum river banks near Basin Bridge, secured and moved him to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The deceased was identified as D Satish (22), a resident of Jeeva Nagar in Tondiarpet. Probe revealed that the deceased Satish is a history-sheeter and has several criminal cases against him. Based on his family’s complaint, Seven Wells police registered a case and began investigations. On Wednesday, police arrested a juvenile who was part of a gang which murdered Satish. He was produced before a juvenile justice board and sent to an observation home for boys. Police said the deceased had previous enmity with one Ajithkumar and he is the main suspect in the murder.
