Justice Sanjib Banerjee set to be HC CJ

The Madras High Court is set to get a new Chief Justice as the incumbent Chief Justice Amreshwar Pratap Sahi is scheduled to retire from service by the end of this year.

The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on December 14 recommended Justice Sanjib Banarjee of Calcutta high court to be the next Chief Justice of MHC. Justice Sanjib Banerjee who had completed his LLB from Calcutta University in 1986-87 was enrolled as an advocate in November 1990. Having practiced in Bombay, Karnataka, Orissa, Patna, Jharkhand, MP, Punjab and Haryana, he was elevated as a permanent judge on June 22, 2006.
