Jharkhand man held in Chennai for harassing techie

CHENNAI: Pramod Yadav (35), a migrant from Jharkhand working at a sweet shop, was arrested on Monday for sexually harassing a woman software professional in Purasawalkam.

The victim, a 31-year-old from Tiruvarur, works in a Chennai firm by staying at a hostel in Kilpauk. On returning from her hometown after the weekend, Pramod groped her while she was waiting for a taxi. He fled the spot when she raised an alarm.

The Kilpauk police registered a case under various sections, including the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Harassment of Women Act, based on her complaint and zeroed in on the suspect using CCTV footage.
