The 45 -year-old, who is married and settled in Chennai, lodged the complaint with Abhiramapuram police station, giving the details of telephone numbers from which she had been receiving the calls.

Admitting that they had received her complaint, a police officer said that a team is looking into the matter. “We don’t think the caller was targeting her. It looks like the caller may not know have known the identity of the person whom he was targeting. Only after she started getting calls from the three numbers, did she lodge a complaint,” the officer said.

Rubaiyya was in the news three decades ago when she was kidnapped by JKLF militants while her father was the Union Home Minister in VP Singh’s cabinet.

The governments at the State and the Centre had allowed the release of 13 jailed militants to get her released.
