Lalit Kumar was Vijay’s staff earlier and now is producing the movie with Xavier Britto. Income Tax sources said that the officials decided to survey the properties of Lalith Kumar based on certain documents seized during the large scale raids conducted last month.

“It was more of a verification/survey operation. The department wanted to know details of certain payment made to the actor for Master,” sources said.

The audio release of the movie is scheduled for Sunday.

It may be recalled that the investigators had carried out large scale searched in connection with the box office collection of Vijay starrer Bigil last month.

Taxmen had seized more than Rs 77 crore in cash and gold from the premises of film financier Anbu Chezhian and other producers.

The I-T department said that Bigil was reportedly made at Rs 180 crore and the film was believed to have grossed more than Rs 300 crore at the box office.

Investigators believe that it was not properly accounted for, leading to the searches.
