“As we had warned a few days ago about the weather becoming unbearably hot while cyclone Amphan passes by, on Tuesday, Nungambakkam weather station recorded 41.3 degree Celsius and Meenambakkam recorded 41.4 degree Celsius. For the next two days, the temperature will be around 42 degree Celsius and might increase further,” said an official at the Regional Meteorological Department.The official added that there could be thunderstorms with lighting at isolated places across Tamil Nadu. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam were 28.2 degree Celsius and 25.7 degree Celsius respectively.

Weathermen have also issued a heat warning for the rest of the State, where temperature could be in the range of 42 degree Celsius at isolated places over interior districts. The public and farmers have been advised not to expose themselves to direct sunlight from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm for the next two days.
