AIADMK HQ violence case: 70 arrested cadres given bail

The judge granted the bail with a condition that every accused who filed the bail application should deposit Rs.20,000 each in favour of Adyar Cancer Institute.

CHENNAI: Justice N Sathish Kumar of the Madras High Court granted bail to 70 AIADMK members who were arrested for their involvement in the violence on July 11 and caused damages to the AIADMK party headquarters and public properties.

The judge granted the bail with a condition that every accused who filed the bail application should deposit Rs.20,000 each in favour of Adyar Cancer Institute.

Additional Public Prosecutor E Raj Thilak submitted that all the accused had vandalised the public property and also caused threats to the public. He further wanted to impose strict conditions for granting bail.

Recording the submissions, the judge also noted that the accused must cooperate with the CB-CID's investigation.

Recently, when the Edappadi K Palaniswami faction conducted a GC meeting at Vanagaram on July 11, simultaneously O Panneerselvam with his supporters, entered the AIADMK headquarters office in the city. This led to the clash between OPS and EPS supporters and turned into violence. Therefore, Royappettah police made arrested several persons in this connection.
