HC directs subordinate courts to install partition

The Madras High Court registry has advised all the subordinate courts to put up a transparent partition between the dais and the advocates’ areas of the court as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus.

In a notification issued on Tuesday, High Court Registrar General C Kumarappan said the principal district judges/district judges in the State were permitted to make the transparent partition screen between the dais and the remaining part/advocate areas in all the court halls in their respective districts through the Public Works Department. The notification also noted that the facility can be installed by utilising the periodical maintenance funds subject to their convenience/requirement or any other alternative arrangements within reasonable means.
