‘Handcuffed’ man secured at Broadway

A day after a 25-year-man escaped from the North Beach police station, a team of police personnel secured him from Broadway bus terminus in the wee hours of Tuesday and arrested him under Pocso Act.

While the accused, K Arun, had handcuffs on when he escaped, he was secured without it. A senior police officer said that he had managed to remove it and the broken handcuffs are yet to be retrieved.

Arun was secured and handed over to North Beach police as he was found to be misbehaving with a two-year-old girl. While the police had detained him in the station, he escaped when the police personnel were engaged in another detainee.

When the police secured him on Tuesday morning, Arun allegedly harmed self by slashing his hand and chest with a blade and was treated at Government Stanley Hospital. He was handed over to the Harbour all-women police station.
