Rashida was reunited with her mother Marjina on Tuesday and the accused, Deepak Mandal (32) of West Bengal, was remanded in judicial custody. “Deepak boarded the Dhanbad-Alappuzha Express with Rashida, got down at Salem and then boarded Mumbai-Nagercoil Express. He begged on the train showing the kid. When a few passengers questioned him, he got down at Dindigul station. Railway police there secured him and informed us,” said Inspector Thomas Yesudasan. Railway police said Marjina and Hamid came with her two daughters to Chennai Central about 10 days ago, where they met Deepak. “Hamid and Deepak used the girl to beg on the station premises with the knowledge of her mother,” said police.

Deepak allegedly kidnapped the child after a quarrel with Hamid, police said.
