GCC to set up special counters for property owners to pay tax

The corporation has urged residents to check property tax revision on its website. Property owners who have linked their mobile numbers with their property tax details can check the computation details online.

CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced that it will set up special counters for property tax revision-related aspects in all the zones to help residents from Tuesday.

The corporation has urged residents to check property tax revision on its website. Property owners who have linked their mobile numbers with their property tax details can check the computation details online.

Assesses can enter either their registered mobile number or the new bill number provided in the notice 1 to check computation details. The tax demand for each street has been shared online.

If residents wanted to know about the square feet rate of property tax for a particular street, they could know it using the following address: https://erp.chennaicorporation.gov.in/ptis/citizen/citizenCalc.action

The civic body has asked the property owners to pay the tax before September 30 to avoid penal charges. The Corporation has sent property tax revision notices to 11.58 lakh assesses in the city. As many as 5.75 lakh assesses have paid Rs 472 crore property tax.
