CHENNAI: As a part of 'Chennai Day' celebrations, the Greater Chennai Corporation has started conducting events to felicitate volunteers and nongovernmental organisations, who supported Covid-19 control measures taken up by the civic body.

The events are being conducted in parks in the divisions during which concerned councillors of those divisions felicitate the volunteers.

"The felicitation events are conducted following request to the councillors from the Mayor who wanted to have such events in parks. She also requested them to felicitate volunteers who helped during the pandemic and other disasters. Gender Lab of the civic body coordinates the events, " a Chennai Corporation press release said.

Events were conducted on August 28 and August 29 in divisions such as 41, 65, 77 and 92. As many as 94 volunteers and nongovernmental organisations were felicitated. Similar events will be conducted in remaining divisions too.

The statement also requested the public to participate in a survey conducted by the Gender Lab pertaining to the parks and share feedback through Chennai Corporation official website.
