Machete-wielding men reached Thyagu’s house in Poyyakulam on Wednesday evening and hurled stones and damaged his cars. On their way back, they attacked Raj, Guna, Sathya, Rajkumar and Gopi, who are said to have been part of Dinesh’s gang, and escaped with jewels and two bikes.

While the injured have been admitted to a hospital, the Kancheepuram police reportedly detained a murder accused, identified as Puviyarasan, in connection with the clash for interrogation. In another incident, a five-member gang tried to attack a history-sheeter, Akash, near Ekambaranathar temple on Wednesday night. While Akash managed to flee, the gang attacked his friend with weapons and fled the spot. The Vishnu Kanchi police have registered a case and further investigation is on.

The clash comes after the seizure of gelatin sticks and detonators from the farm of absconding history-sheeter Thulasi Raman.

Dinesh and Thyagu have been lodged in prison, while Thanikachalan is absconding. Both were aides of late don Sridhar Dhanapal, who committed suicide in Cambodia in 2017. Dinesh and Thanikachalam oftenclash after Sridhar’s death to take overhis position.
