The victim, Mohan Das (54), Sub Inspector at Adambakkam station, was travelling to Madipakkam on his two-wheeler on Sunday around 9.30 pm when the incident happened. When he was at Thillai Nagar subway, four men were seen sitting in the middle of the way and consuming liquor. After Mohan Das blew the horn and asked them to leave, the group started abusing Mohan Das and began to attack him with beer bottles and helmet.

Police said Mohan Das managed to contact the control room but angry over it the gang snatched his mobile phone and two-wheeler and escaped from the spot.

The Adambakkam police rushed to the spot and admitted Mohan Das to a private hospital. Police have registered a case are searching for the gang members who have gone into hiding.
