Flight delays and cancellations cause chaos at Chennai Airport

An Air Mauritius flight from Mauritius, scheduled to arrive at 1.50 am, landed at 7.50 am — six hours late

CHENNAI: Passengers were left stranded at the Chennai airport on Tuesday, as five flights were delayed and two flights were cancelled without prior information.

The Air Mauritius flight, which was scheduled to arrive in Chennai at 1.50 am, landed at the airport at 7.50 am, after a six-hour delay. The same flight, which was supposed to depart for Mauritius at 3.35 am, got delayed.

Similarly, an Air India flight from Chennai to Delhi, which was supposed to take off at 3 am, was delayed by over three hours and departed at 6.20 am. Another major delay was reported on the SpiceJet flight bound for Thoothukudi.

The flight, scheduled to take off at 10 am from Chennai, was delayed more than three hours and departed at 1.35 pm. The flight, scheduled to arrive from Thoothukudi at 1.45 pm, was also delayed.

Meanwhile, two SpiceJet flights, which were supposed to arrive from Hyderabad and then depart to Hyderabad, were cancelled. With a total of five flights delayed and two cancelled, hundreds of passengers were left waiting at the terminal without any proper updates.

The passengers expressed concern over the lack of timely communication regarding delays and cancellations.
