Five, including juvenile, arrested for flying kites

A day after the city police issued an order extending the ban on flying kites, and selling and using manja threads, the city police arrested five persons, including a juvenile, who were allegedly flying kites in Padi.

The arrested persons were identified as B Jeeva (25), V Balaji (24), B Satheesh (27), Prem Kumar (27) and a 16-year-old boy. All of them were taken in custody for further investigation. Police said that action would be taken against them for violating of the ban order promulgated under the provisions of CrPC 144. The city police had already warned against selling kites and making manja threads during lockdown despite an existing order.
