Lavanya (24) of Gandhi Road, runs an ayurvedic massage centre at a rented house. Two weeks ago, four men in police uniform entered the parlour and said they had come to check the parlour since some illegal activities are happening there.

The group checked all over the house but could not find any valuables. However, they said they have got some strong evidence and would seal the parlour after registering a case.

The gang asked Lavanya to pay Rs 2 lakh to avoid the trouble but since Lavanya said she does not have the money they took the mobile phones on the table, pretending to be calling higher officers.

Later the gang attacked Lavanya and snatched her one-sovereign gold chain and two mobile phones and escaped. Lavanya later realised that they were not real cops and filed a complaint with Tambaram police.

The police, after browsing the CCTV footage, arrested Saravanakumar (26), Chandru (22), Jayasathish (22), Velmurugan (20) of Thiruverkadu and seized the gold chain and mobile phones from them. All four were remanded in judicial custody.
