CHENNAI: For the second consecutive day, Chennaiites witnessed a dip in temperature and cloudy conditions most of the day on Monday. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecast the minimum temperature to dip to 2-3 degrees Celsius over isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry areas up to January 16.
The sky condition would be partly cloudy in the capital city and its neighbouring districts. The minimum temperature would dip to 19 degrees, and the maximum would go up to 29 degrees for the next six days, up to January 18.
The RMC stated, “As of on 8:30 am on Monday, the lowest temperature of 20.1 degrees was recorded in Poonamallee, followed by Ennore Port with 20.4 degrees, 21.4 degrees in Meenambakkam and 21.7 in Meenambakkam. Expect light to moderate rain at isolated places over Tamil Nadu and at a few places over south TN and at isolated places over north TN and Puducherry areas, with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places today (January 13).”
Also, light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places over TN and Puducherry areas tomorrow (January 14). “From January 16-18, dry weather is likely to prevail over TN and Puducherry areas,” said the weather bulletin.
As per the rainfall data from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm on Monday, Mayiladuthrai recorded 47.5 mm, followed by Karikkal at 44 mm, Aduthurai (Thanjavur) at 32 mm, and Perambalur at 23.5 mm
