CHENNAI: The Teynampet police arrested a former army personnel for making a hoax bomb threat to the Chief Minister's residence.

The call, made to the police control room on Sunday, prompted an intensive search by security teams, which confirmed it was a hoax.

The accused, Balasubramanian (45), was traced through his call details and was apprehended from Virudhunagar.

Police investigations revealed that the suspect has a history of alcohol addiction and prior cases involving violence against women. He made the threat while in a distressed state over his estranged wife. He has been charged and remanded in judicial custody.
