EMU train derails near Royapuram; no casualties reported

CHENNAI: EMU services on Chennai Beach were briefly disturbed on Tuesday following the derailment of a coach of an EMU train bound for the yard at Chennai Beach. According to an official release, at 11.08 am on Tuesday, a coach of an EMU derailed while leaving Chennai Beach suburban yard. No casualties or injuries were reported.

Senior officials of the Chennai Division rushed to the site, and restoration work was carried out in full swing. Claiming that the mainline tracks were clear, the SR release said that the cause of the incident was under investigation. There was no disruption to suburban or Mail/Express traffic, and train services from Chennai Beach ran as per normal schedule. The restoration works were completed at 1.30 pm, the release added.
