CHENNAI: Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Tuesday conducted searches at the residences and offices of Kollywood producer, Ravindhar Chandrasekaran and another film producer.

The searches were in relation to a FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) case and ED is probing the funding to some Tamil movies.

Sources said that searches were conducted at Ravindhar's apartment in Ashok Nagar. In September last year, Chennai City Police's Central Crime Branch (CCB) had arrested Ravindhar for allegedly cheating a businessman of Rs 15.8 crore. Ravindhar had contacted another businessman, Balaji and sought financial assistance to start a new venture that aimed to convert municipal solid waste into energy, but Ravindhar defaulted on it, after which Balaji filed a police complaint.

ED searches were related to the CCB case. There was no official communication from ED on the searches.
