DVAC recovers Rs 3 lakh from Kanchi Town Planning office

A surprise check carried out by Kancheepuram unit of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) at the office of Deputy Director, Town and Country Planning, Kancheepuram on Friday resulted in the seizure of unaccounted money of Rs 3 lakh.

According to a DVAC release, following information that officers in the deputy director’s office are accepting bribe from people to clear building plans, a team of DVAC sleuths, on Friday, carried out a surprise raid at the office near Rangasammy Kulam in Kancheepuram.

During the check, the police found money hidden in many places in the office. A total of Rs 3 lakh of unaccounted money was seized by the police and inquiry is being carried out with Deputy Director P Kavitha and other staff in the office.

In another surprise check in Krishnagiri, the DVAC sleuths seized Rs 1.51 lakh unaccounted money from the office of the Regional Transport Officer, Hosur. Incriminating documents, including RTO office seals, were seized from the brokers, a DVAC communication said.
