Duo cons elderly man, steals Rs 3 L from two-wheeler

The police are searching for unidentified men who conned a 65-year old man and looted Rs 3 lakh from him while returning home after withdrawing the cash from a bank near Pallikaranai on Wednesday.

 The victim, Ramalingam of SBI Colony in Medavakkam near Pallikaranai, is a retired TNEB staff. The police said that Ramalingam visited a private bank in Medavakkam to withdraw Rs 3 lakh for the wedding for his relative.

 When Ramalingam, who was on a two-wheeler, stopped the vehicle to open the main gate of his house, two men on a bike said that some of the cash fell from his bag.

 Believing them, he went to take the cash from the road but he found only Rs 230 there. When he returned to his two-wheeler, the cash bag was missing.

 Ramalingam, who realised he has been conned, filed a complaint with the Pallikaranai police and they have registered a case. The police trying to trace the accused with the help of CCTV footage from the area.
