Digital display boards installed at 48 suburban railway stations in Chennai division

The newly installed boards offer accurate and instant updates including train arrival and departure timings, train numbers, destination stations, platform details, and current running status, said a Maalaimalar report.

CHENNAI: Southern Railway has installed modern digital announcement display boards at 48 suburban railway stations under the Chennai Division to enhance passenger convenience and provide real-time information on train arrivals and departures.

The newly installed boards offer accurate and instant updates including train arrival and departure timings, train numbers, destination stations, platform details, and current running status, said a Maalaimalar report.

Designed to be easily understood by all categories of passengers, the system uses LED screens that remain clearly visible even during peak rush hours and under varying lighting conditions. Railway officials stated that the initiative will greatly benefit daily commuters, senior citizens, and first-time travellers.

The digital display facility has been introduced at several key suburban stations including Velachery, Pazhavanthangal, Chromepet, Pallavaram, Thiruvanmiyur, Nungambakkam, Villivakkam, Saidapet, Kodambakkam, Minjur, Tambaram, Sanatorium, Fort, Thiruvottiyur, Korattur, Chetpet, Vyasarpadi Jeeva, Taramani, Trisulam, Annanur, Pattaravakkam, Thirumayilai, Meenambakkam, Perambur, Loco Works, Chepauk, Lighthouse, Chintadripet, Athipattu, Kasturba Nagar, Perungudi, Anuppambattu, Triplicane, Washermanpet, Mandaveli, Kotturpuram, Perambur Carriage Works, Greenways Road, Kathivakkam, Indira Nagar, Athipattu Pudhunagar, Mundakanni Amman Koil, Royapuram, Basin Bridge, Ponneri, Wimco Nagar, Urapakkam, Maraimalai Nagar and Nandiyambakkam.

Railway authorities noted that the project is part of ongoing efforts to modernise suburban rail infrastructure and improve the overall passenger information system across the Chennai network.
