They arrived on a Malaysian Airlines flight and were received by an Indian Air Force team at the Chennai airport, who took them to an IAF facility and a private university hostel in Avadi where all of them will be quarantined.

Sources said all of them were linked to some kind of travel document violations and the Malaysian government had deported them back to India. Because of their possible crime links, all of them were handed over to the IAF facility for 14 days’ quarantine.

Of the 148 persons, as many as 22 were taken to IAF facility while others were taken to private university hostel under strict vigil. After they complete the mandatory quarantine, they will be handed over to the police for taking action for the crime they had committed, sources said.
